Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) – An expansive alliance of thousands of youth organizations in over 190 countries.

The Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) is 501c3, not-for-profit organization, launched in 1996 and registered in the state of New York, USA. GYAN has regional teams in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Durban, South Africa, Beirut, Lebanon, and Manila, Philippines. Natonal Chapters are registered in Mexico City, Accra, Ghana, Paris, France, and a growing number of other countries. GYAN is affiliated to the United Nations Department of Public Information and holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC).

Halo3 crowns Microsoft with New Record

Microsoft said that Halo 3, its new video game, generated sales of more than $170 million (£84 million) within 24 hours of release, a record for first-day sales of an entertainment product. Microsoft is relying on Halo 3 to boost sales of its Xbox 360 console – the only unit on which the game plays – in its battle with the Nintento Wii and Sony’s PlayStation.

Affinity Circles – social networks for affinity-based organizations

Affinity Circles, formerly known only as Affinity Engines, was formed in 2002 by Stanford University students who created one of the first online social networks as a way to stay in contact with friends and colleagues from Stanford.

Affinity Circles was a trusted and secure community accessible only to Stanford students and alumni, in 2003, the original Affinity Circles founders took the private social networking application and marketed it to other alumni associations and organizations that could benefit from member-based online communities.

Google buying mobile social network Zingku

Looks like Google is acquiring Zingku, a site that offers a social network for mobile users. “We’ve entered into an agreement to have Google acquire our Zingku service,” the site says.

A Google spokesman confirmed the news: “I can confirm that we acquired certain assets and technology of Zingku. We believe these assets can help build products and features that will benefit our users, advertisers and publishers. Aside from that, we have no plans to announce at this time.”
