Users Can Enhance Their Online Photos by Adding Surround Sound Effects

August 29th, 2008 by Social Guy

SRS Labs, Inc., the leading provider of surround sound, audio and voice technologies, has announced a free “Photogram” widget that lets MySpace and Facebook users enhance their online photographs by adding sound effects enriched with SRS audio processing.

The Photogram widget is a no-cost application developed by SRS Labs that allows members of these popular social networking sites to add a wide range of quality sound effects to the pictures they place on their social media profile. The widget can be placed in the “comments” section of a friend’s page, or in the creator’s “profile” section.

“We developed the Photogram widget to give the interactive social networking crowd a creative and fun way to enhance the photos they share with family and friends,” said Allen Gharapetian, VP of Marketing, SRS Labs. “Plus, this is a great way for us to bring awareness of the SRS audio experience to a vast new market looking for differentiation, authenticity and personalization.”

For example, users can add the relaxing sounds of the beach to their Hawaiian vacation photos, or add a new level of excitement by adding the sound of applause to their child’s dance recital photos. Some effects are available in immersive surround sound, and all sounds have been enhanced through SRS audio processing.

Sound clips currently available include multiple selections in easy to find categories such as “Emotions”(giggles, kisses); “Animal Sounds,” “Nature,” “Modern Life” (airplanes, traffic), “You’re a Star” (applause, drum roll), and “Cartoon Favorites.”

Creating and posting the widget is a simple, 4-step process:

  1. Select your photo image
  2. Select a frame color to complement the your page color scheme
  3. Select the SRS-enhanced sound clip
  4. Post the finished Photogram widget, either on your ‘profile’ or ‘friend’s comment’ section.

The photogram automatically resizes photos to fit the frame, and it works with the most common photo formats – JPEG, GIF, and PNG.
