MySpace, Facebook or LinkedIn may be leaders in the genre of social networking sites, but they don’t come to mind when you think local community. What’s going on in the local neighborhood association, PTA, kid’s soccer team, volunteer group or book club? The list goes on and on – few would look to these popular sites for support and could hardly imaging inviting a neighbor to join them online in any of these places.

There are over 100 million individuals active in real world community based groups, clubs and organizations across America. All are established, have active membership and meet on a regular basis. They all lack one important thing, an effective way to keep the communications going between those face-to-face meetings.

TabUp is the solution, a web 2.0 utility that allows active individuals to create their own online place for the group, as well as places for all aspects of their busy family and community life. TabUp provides a highly customizable collection of collaboration tools designed to meet the communication needs of real worlds groups.

TabUp’s advanced information management capabilities allows users to organize their information and interactions based on specific areas of interest. User generated content, declared interest and site participation are all part of shaping how information is presented to TabUp’s users. This sort of behavioral filtering allows TabUp to proved content recommendation to enhance a group’s online experience and sort through the unwanted noise. The average internet user is unfamiliar with the wide array of syndicated content available to support their specific interests.

I use the site for my community association, kids soccer and PTA. The more tabs I create the more useful. (added by Mobile using Mippin)
  • This is an excellent concept to add to our social networking sites! While I love reaching out to an international clientele via LinkedIn and FB, I also want to be involved at the community level in organizations like the Chamber of Commerce.

    Thanks for the tip!
