Meebo Powers Instant Messaging on Flixster.com

Meebo powers first deployment of Meebo Community IM, an integrated instant messaging solution for online communities, on Flixster.com. Flixster, an online community for movie fans with a global reach of millions, integrated Meebo Community IM as the default instant messaging service for its entire user base.
Meebo designed its new solution to be extremely quick and easy to deploy by the site owner. Unlike homegrown IM solutions that can take months to develop and deploy, Flixster integrated Meebo Community IM in less than 2 weeks.
For Flixster, the partnership with Meebo enables live communication and real-time notifications between community members, increasing user engagement and time spent on site. The partnership also paves the way for monetization of the service - Meebo will serve ad units designed specifically for web instant messaging and will share revenue with Flixster.
“Flixster thrives on the ability for users to connect with like-minded movie fans. Meebo adds a whole new level of real-time interactivity to our site — which is exactly what our users have been asking for,” said Joe Greenstein, co-founder and CEO, Flixster.
The launch of Meebo Community IM on Flixster begins a staged rollout to a network of signed partners that serve a total unduplicated global reach of 72.9 million (August 2008) and an unduplicated reach in the US of 26.2 million (August 2008), according to comScore Media Metrix. The list of partners that will be implementing Meebo Community IM includes Bleacher Report, DanceJam, Dhingana, Fanpop, Flixster, Global Grind, IBeatYou, myYearbook, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group’s AddictingGames, OrangeShark, Piczo, PerfSpot, SparkArt, Sugar Publishing, Tagged, UGAME.net, Yaari, Zinch, and Zorpia.
Meebo serves 40 million people and handles over 5 billion messages per month. The company has raised $37.5 million from investors Sequoia Capital, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, JAFCO Ventures, Time Warner Investments, and KTB Ventures.
