Nimbuzz Wins Prestigious Red Herring Global 100 Award

Red Herring awarded Nimbuzz with the prestigious Global 100 award as one of the Top 100 tech-startups in the world. This prestigious awards program honors the top 100 private technology companies in the world. Nimbuzz is now growing at around 20,000 new users every day and is the first aggregated mobile messenger company worldwide to ever receive this award.

The winners were announced at the Red Herring Global 2008, held on January 14-16, 2009 in San Diego, California. Out of 1,800 successful, eligible companies, the Red Herring editorial team deployed a detailed process to drill-down to the best companies first to 200 finalists, then to the top 100 winners of this global award. Evaluations were made on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, innovation, management, global strategy, and ecosystem integration.

Carol Bartz to be Yahoo’s new CEO

Yahoo Inc. has appointed Carol Bartz as its new chief executive officer. The 60-year old Bartz was chairman, president and CEO of Autodesk for 14 years. She stepped down in April, 2006.

Bartz told analysts that she saw a big opportunity in Yahoo. A technology veteran, her salary at Autodesk was a whopping $500,000. During her tenure, the company diversified its product line and grew revenues from $285 million to $1.523 billion in FY06.
