Joost Taps Ooyala’s Video Uploading Platform Technology

February 26th, 2009 by Social Guy

Ooyala, a leading online video technology provider, and Joost, a global Web video service, today announced that Joost will use a new set of ingestion, transcoding and metadata management tools provided by Ooyala. Through this integration, Ooyala and Joost have developed a custom version of Ooyala’s cutting-edge content ingestion, transcoding and analytics platform that will provide a set of upload tools for select Joost partners.

The partnership between Ooyala and Joost demonstrates how companies are outsourcing certain functions of their video architecture to maximize the value of their business model. Implementing Ooyala will help Joost reduce the friction in the ingestion, transcoding and publication processes for content partners with fewer resources or smaller libraries.

“With these new publishing tools, Joost and other video destination sites will be able to better manage the increased number of publishers who are pushing high-quality video content on the Web.” stated Bismarck Lepe, CEO of Ooyala.

The Ooyala partnership provides an easy-to-use interface with high-quality video encoding services for Joost’s partners, as well as an admin console that can be used by Joost to manage dozens of publishing relationships.

Joost has more than 57,000 program elements, including more than 400 television series and 1,200 movie and short film titles, and 18,000 music videos.
