Trackle – Google Alerts for Everything, Dumbed-down Social Media Marketing Tools

April 22nd, 2009 by Social Guy

Trackle

These days, information is only as good as the time and place it’s received. With the current popularity of micro-blogging – how are regular sites and blogs supposed to compete?

Trackle is a new company that offers all kinds of tracking services on the Web – think of it like Google alerts for everything, including very personalized stuff that are time-consuming to track down on your own.

They launched a new service today that enables Website owners and blogs to help their users to track anything that’s on their site. It works like a “customized RSS feed” – that users can set up to receive and share notifications about personalized information, such as price drops, new user-generated content, product messages, etc.

One of the cool features is that people can choose how they’d like to be “alerted” to new content email or SMS; and can also share content on Digg, Facebook, Twitter or other social networks. It’s also an interesting way for marketers to better understand what their users are most interested in.

Tracking works kind of like a personalized RSS. By self-selecting the things that interest them on a site, readers are establishing a more contextual relationship with that site. The consumer value is implicit : Imagine if you could choose your own coupons when you need them?

A number of beta customers are already having success with the new
service, including EurekaSpot, Everytrail, Kwanzoo, Vimo, KLDSoccer,
SoccerFanatic, PicsOrLinks and Zirana.

Here’s an example of Trackle on Everytrail – they’re using it to share new posts with their growing community (see screenshots below).

Secondly, the Trackle Widgets Library is a free way for bloggers and site owners to add new content relating to what they write about. They can choose from over 100 content widgets ranging from “Local Crime,” “Health”, “Real Estate”, “Stocks” – once they’re set up, these widgets do all the work, providing continuously updated content.
