Scoot Launches ‘Find Your Nearest…’ Local Search iPhone App

Online business directory, Scoot.co.uk, has launched a new location-based iPhone application that helps mobile users find information about local businesses in just a couple of taps.

Free to download from the iPhone App Store, Scoot uses the iPhone’s GPS capability to locate the user, then find the nearest cafe, bank, restaurant, petrol station and much more.

GeneTree Provides SMGF Participants DNA Profile at Reduced Price

Participants in the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) database can now access their DNA profiles through GeneTree for a drastically reduced price. The offer has been extended to 50,000 men who donated their Y-DNA and pedigree information to SMGF, and gives them access to GeneTree’s family tree-building tools linked to the world’s most comprehensive genetic genealogy database.

Until the launch of GeneTree in Oct. 2007, SMGF did not have a way to provide participants with their genetic profiles in a meaningful form. Now for $49.50, or about one-third of the typical price, SMGF participants can receive their Y-DNA profiles through GeneTree. (more…)
