hi5 and RockYou Partner to Launch RockYou Pets to hi5′s 63 Million Users

Extending its social entertainment strategy, hi5 announced a partnership to distribute RockYou‘s popular RockYou Pets game to hi5′s 63 million global users through the hi5 Games channel.

RockYou will exclusively accept hi5 Coins, hi5′s virtual currency, for payments in the hi5 version of the game. The partnership marks the first time a major social site has opened its payments platform to a leading social application developer, enabling better monetization opportunities for both companies.

Mobile Advertising Growth Fueled by New Ad Formats on Smartphones

38% of US mobile phone owners recall seeing advertising on their cell phones in the first quarter of 2009, although for Smartphone (such as iPhone) users, 59% recalled seeing mobile advertising. For Smartphone users, the number one format is mobile web advertising, while for regular phone users, it is SMS.
