Interview with Zachary Collins, 14 Years Old Boy, Founder of Yazzem.com
Yesterday, had the chance to interview Mr. Zachary Collins, a 14 years old boy, creator and founder of Yazzem.com. Yazzem is a new way to share your thoughts about anything that interests you by starting and joining topics.
Me : Tell us about your background and role in your company.
Zachary Collins : My name is Zachary Collins and I am a 14 year old web geek who loves creating websites. I am the creator and founder of Yazzem.com, and I must say, it is by far the most exciting project I have worked on. However, I also created Twtbase.com, a Twitter Application Database, and also home to the world’s very first Twitter App Search Engine. In July, 2009, I sold it for $1850.
My role at Yazzem.com is pretty much doing the main coding, maintence, and business. However, I do get help from my Co-Founder Dustin Snider, who is also 14 years old.
Me : What are your main features/service?
Zachary Collins : The main feature of Yazzem are topics, which anyone can start and share their thoughts about in 140 characters or less. So, let’s say you want to go see the new Harry Potter movie, but want some reviews first. Just start a topic and hear other’s thoughts. You can also post status updates, leave your contacts comments, and more.

Me : What makes your website different from other websites competing in your industry?
Zachary Collins : Yazzem is mostly compared to forums with Twitter’s 140 character limit tied in and Facebook’s social features. So, we ourselves are still trying to find a true competitor.
Me : How do you develop your skills in this continually challenging environment?
Zachary Collins : Everyday, I develop my skills more and more, whether it be my programming skills or business skills. I am always talking to people about my product, and almost always am programming and making sure all bugs are “squashed”.
Me : What do you see as the future of the industry?
Zachary Collins : The future of the industry will continue to develop to the day I die. I constantly brainstorm new ideas and how I can make things stronger, faster, and better. However, that said, I am not the only one.
Me : What will be the challenges, do you anticipate any drastic changes?
Zachary Collins : There are always challenges. I believe the challenges we will face at Yazzem are figuring out what members want, and most importantly, how to get a strong userbase.
Me : Where do you see your company/website in the next 5 years? What about you personally?
Zachary Collins : In the next 5 years, I don’t see people visiting Google.com to search for what other’s think about something, but instead visiting Yazzem first and quickly getting an up-to-date answer.
I see myself in the next 5 years a 19 year old with a lot of experience in the web industry!
