Twitter’s capability as an extensive internet platform is now being fully realized. Twitter has developed into a technology that can be used everywhere. Tweets can be sent from telephones, desktops and browsers to make communication easy among humans. They can also be used to make machines follow our orders.

Hardware hackers have used twitters to benefit the humans -

1) They have been used to send status alerts from household appliances to Twitter. For, e.g. When the spin cycle of a washing machine is over it tweets so that the user is informed.

2) Similarly, whenever there is some movement in a house with a home security system it begins to tweet keeping the owner informed about the activity. This will be great use when children or elderly people are all alone in the home.

3) Incorporation of Twitter into home automation systems help to send a tweet to turn over the switch if the user forgets to turn off lights. This will be helpful for the user to save his electricity bills.

4) People have started to build businesses around it. A company named Botanicalls sells a Twitter facilitated hardware kits, which help plants of your neglected house inform you when they are thirsty so that the plant can be watered as and when required. The company has manufactured a device for the purpose which has a small moisture sensor linked by an Ethernet port to a circuit board. This device is stuck to your plant’s soil. When the moisture level drops below a certain level, the plant will send you a tweet that will indicate you to water the plants immediately. This prevents the spoilage of plants and you will be able to acquire the benefits from the plants.

5) In addition to the above-mentioned advantages, twitters are being used in other fields like education, public relations, campaigning, survey, legal proceeding and during emergencies, etc… as well.

Hope, you might have clearly understood the benefits of twitter, visit Twitter.com for more information about the several activities being covered by the website.
